If you don’t safe to riding on the street (I wouldn’t either), and you endanger people by riding on the sidewalk, then either find a street with a bike lane or just don’t ride the scooter. The purpose of sidewalks is that they’re safe for pedestrians and not vehicular traffic.

Thanks for bringing this up, it’s made walking really scary! When I’m walking on the sidewalk, I try to not make sudden movements when I need to avoid dog poop or a puddle. I’ve had so many close calls with scooters zooming up behind me and trusting that I won’t step into their path at the wrong moment.
I’m all for a less car-centric city but please don’t ride scooters on the sidewalk. Sidewalks need to be safe for people who are walking, in strollers, and using wheelchairs.

Reply to John Hopkins rn- exempt vs nonexempt help by maylof
That’s how Hopkins does it. You’ll get paid extra if you pick up an extra shift of course but not if you have to stay late (ex: next shift was late, patient coded, etc). You also work an average of 40 hours per week instead of 36. IIRC this works out to for every 6-week scheduling period, you have to work 2 additional shifts than you would if you were 36 hours. They also only pay out half of what your PTO is worth when you quit. That sucked.
I had a decent experience there as a new grad. I liked the residency program, my nurse manager was great, and my coworkers were happy to teach. Nice to have Hopkins on my resume but they’re not a great employer.

Reply to Potentially moving to Baltimore by psychissick
Hi! I’m familiar with both cities and I live in Baltimore. I love Boston but it’s so expensive that many people can’t afford to live there. I think Boston is otherwise the better city but I’m happy in Baltimore. I’m also a small woman and I’ve never been the victim of a crime here. I think more people would move here if they knew what Baltimore offers.
Baltimore pros: affordable, quirky (go to Hampden), something for everyone, cool museums, great food scene for the size of the city, and I think people are friendlier here than in MA - very welcoming and open-minded.
Baltimore cons: the summer humidity sucks, city leadership is bad, history of racial segregation that is still very present, you hear a lot about crime even if you’re not affected, and we have limited and unreliable public transportation. You’ll prob need a car
