Yes, it’s becoming more and more of a thing. In economics its called "voting with your feet". if you feel passionately about something, you will take steps to mitigate the issue.

Good to know about the OE! I know all about property taxes, people think TX is tax friendly, but that is for corps rather than residential home owners. We lived in SoFla and when we moved to TX I was shocked by the size of the tax bill and how much it can get YoY

We both work remote but being close to Boston and NY for social/entertainment purposes (and a major airport for long distance and int'l flights) would be great.

Thanks for the thoughts! We're not looking to move for a bit yet so hopefully the market will calm down when we are ready

We'd prefer both to give us the flexibility.

We'd be open to a distance like that if it gets us the house we'd want

Just to elaborate a bit, one of the reasons we want to leave TX is the political climate/atmosphere which is part of the reason we're looking at the Northeast.

Not planning on any kids.
30-45 min to airport would work perfectly. We sometimes travel for work and do a good bit of traveling for pleasure but not anything too frequent.

Thanks for the thoughts! We live in a deep red state now and are looking for a place that's more aligned to our leanings (blue) and are looking at areas with outdoorsy things to do.
I'll keep in mind what you mentioned as we do more research/planning

And the same thing happens on the other end of the political spectrum. People moving from CA and PNW to red states such as TX for politics.
