I think it's less about people actually getting it and more about not "officially" supporting it in the UK so they're not subject to the laws there.

There's no groups in the round of 32, it's now the beginning of the single elimination phase.

48 is less than a quarter of the national teams in the world. That's more exclusive than any major US sport's playoffs. But sure, it's a "participation trophy."

I don't think it's crazy at all. Rock is dying in the mainstream, and with it most of the full bands. Pop and hip-hop have a lot more solo acts and vocal groups.
