Reply to Jury duty experience in Worcester? by lcatlow
It took a few hrs to ultimately be seated on a jury. A medical malpractice case, which took the entire week. It was more interesting than going to work, for sure. I was compensated in full by my employer, and also got a couple hundred $ from the state. I would happily do it again.

Sorry, kitty cat. Who is Aiden? Has your complaining done anything? Do you feel better? This is New England, harden tf up.

No, but you are responsible for having proper clothing and a car that can function in the winter. Maybe even a snow shovel and some sand/salt. When we have an ice event, like we just had, all bets are off, so refer to instructions at the top. Were you not around for the ice storm in ‘08? Were you a little kid? All bets are off for acts of nature. Not recommended is complaining, because even if you direct it towards the ice, it will not melt. Forgive me, because it’s Sunday and my manager is not in. But if you can wait until tomorrow, you can reach her at 1-800-iamabigbaby. Her name is Mother Nature and she won’t be as patient and caring as I am. Thank you for understanding, Karen, and we’ll see you again this week, for sure…😘

I’m not, kitty cat. I haven’t made a single excuse for them, but you’re full of excuses. Time for you to man up and be somebody. The world isn’t here to wipe your little tears. You’re gonna have a tough week, better call mommy, now.

False false false, you just aren’t prepared. You live in New England. I’ll bet you don’t have a 2 week store of food in your house either, and that it’s their fault, too…..

You don’t even have proper footwear. That’s even worse than not having a car properly prepared.
J-daddy96 t1_ja2vbua wrote
It’s the same everywhere, and if you yourself were prepared, it wouldn’t be a big deal. I live in the Worcester hills, and it’s just not a huge deal. Let me call you a waaaambulance with snow tires.

Reply to Stories/Pictures from the Ice Storm by dpceee
I was working down in Worcester that day, and by early evening the trees were so weighed down by ice they were literally exploding into toothpicks and ice cubes. It was spectacular from my safe vantage point, at the time. Honestly didn’t think that much of it until I got home to Ashburnham, and saw the neighbors fence crushed by a tree, and my backyard was a complete wreck. We lost power for only about 24 hrs. I had to drive around downed limbs and power lines to get to a grocery store that was running by generator. I hope it never happens again, and I now pay very close attention to that potential weather combination.

Between cost of living and culture/food, Worcester is probably the best place in the state you could head for. Have a blast.

There’s a Mens Wearhouse at Solomon Pond Mall. You can get a decent suit there at a reasonable price. Or you can hit a thrift store, I bet you’ll get lucky.
