youre at the edge of being house poor and when you add in monthly hoa fees of probably several hundred dollars that always go up along with insurance and property taxes then this isn't looking so hot unless you are someone that can really be completely aware of all your money being spent and you don't buy crap you don't need

You shouldn’t be spending any money per month on a car with that income. You should be able to save up and pay cash for a car in a very short time.

And why are we considering financing a car when you have student loan debt? The math rules of money and finances apply the same to you as anybody else. You may have a bigger shovel than others with that income but that isn’t a free pass to have debt and accrue more debt

I don’t believe the eggs in one basket theory when it comes to this. I have savings and checking at one bank and have for several decades. Sure fraud can happen but not concerned about it. My debit card is not something I ever use for purchase. I’m not one of those dumbasses that gives companies access to my accounts to automatically withdrawal money for bills either

My password online gets changed annually or whenever a data breach could cause an issue and its 30 plus random characters and the password is only used for that account. Nobody has my PIN numbers or passwords or online over the phone bank password. My money is insured by government as well.

It also isn’t a joint account

But do whatever you think you need to do to sleep at night

I guarantee your dad has financial issues if he told you that and as such I would probably never take financial advice from him if I were you. The market is down so let’s sell off some stock and lock in our losses. Nope.

Yes I would buy a 2k car on my credit card but not because it is zero percent interest but because you probably need a car and you’re broke

And how are you going to afford the installation of a dui breathalyzer and monthly costs?

I’m surprised they didn’t suggest a spring upgrade. Being a garage door company they should know the opener doesn’t really lift the weight of the door. The springs should hold the door in a neutral position so that the opener doesn’t have to do much but yeah it should still match the requirements for that door weight

I would get the correct spring set up and opener or I would replace the insulation with lighter weight insulation or take it off completely

Whatever you do you will have to readjust your spring tension which should be checked yearly or so anyway
