Reply to Is the area around Clark University safe? by Blotofink
Not a news article, but my sister got attacked just outside of McD's. No, she is not in a gang or has any gang affiliations. She just went there to get something off the $1 menu in the evening. I also have heard similar stories but will not comment on those as I cannot confirm the details. Not saying the area is unsafe, but still would be cautious when venturing off the confines of the campus and travel in groups.

AAA cardmember is supposed to be present, but many of the drivers don't check. They do check the plate number to see if it matches the workorder. AAA driver doesn't care why the car needs to be towed, only that AAA has given them a PO to get paid. These are true of independent AAA contactors, not sure how strict an actual AAA driver is.

Agree that Senior Center is a good place to network as they have a good number of social activities scheduled.

IIRC 6.17% on the first $1,000 in savings account. Balances above that are 0.5%, which is above average. Think Country Bank only pays 0.1% to 0.25%.

Reply to Rent Hike by sbenzing100
Sadly, the increase is just being passed to the tenant as everything has gone up. Friend of mine has some utilities included units. Between the price hike for utilities and property tax increase, after expenses, they are making less today than they were 2 years ago and will need to raise the rents as leases expire. They may be currently operating at a loss after all the bills are paid.
During Covid some tenants did not pay rent, but landlord still had to pay the utilities and mortgage. I am thinking some of the increases are to offset this loss.
I agree that there is a problem, as everything has gone up double digits, except people's income. I see both sides of the rent increase.
