Sometimes that’s not a bad thing. I feel there’s a fair amount of amazing movies out there where you mainly get pure enjoyability on just one watch. That’s how I feel with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Loved it on the first watch and think it’s a great movie, but I have no desire to watch it again

It doesn’t have to live up to the hype (which I’m hoping it will cuz it’s incredible), cuz it just nearly swept the Oscar’s. It was the most deserving movie this last year the win Best Picture, and was one of the most unique movies we’ve had in recents years.

Reply to Film taste is largely subjective by 85Millennial
I feel like there’s a section of the film bro community that will not accept any opinion they don’t agree with. Like if you like a certain thing then you don’t have good taste or shit like that. There are too many people out there who act as if their opinions are facts, and try to spread a toxic form of filmbro highbrow ideology. Personally, I’m not picky so I enjoy all movies. I love Infinity War and The Dark Knight just as much as I love The Godfather Part 2 and The Irishman. It’s all subjective taste. And there’s nothing wrong with liking things others don’t, and there’s nothing wrong with not liking things that others do.
I feel like some people listen to critics too extensively to the point they basically pick up their opinion before they are able to form their own. I feel some people let critics influence their opinions way more than they admit.
There is no right or wrong opinion. That’s why it’s an opinion. We need diversity in the film industry and world. We need differing opinions and products cuz not everyone likes the same things as everyone else. We need stuff for everyone to enjoy.

Anything can happen in a short amount of time. The genre could see an immediate bounce back and come back stronger than ever, or they could continue their downward pace in quality and slowly lose more and more traction.

Reply to do u think this era of up and coming actors could fill the big shoes of legendary actors from the past? by we_are_ghetto
Maybe they won’t have as much impact as these past guys, but we shouldn’t expect them to be. We shouldn’t have to compare them, because there’s no point to. Will they be iconic for this generation and be this generations stars? Yes. Will they ever be on the level of iconic as all these other veterans? Too early to tell. But even if they don’t become as iconic, that’s fine cuz they don’t have to. They just have to be good at their job

Reply to Disney and market fatigue by TechnicalTrash95
I don’t think it’s the genre fatigue as I saw someone mention. I think it’s the mediocre to blatant bad writing that’s making people not attracted to it. Although some people may feel fatigue I think it’s dependent on the person. With Marvel it’s just like they’re trying to do too much super quickly and making bad hiring decisions, and Star Wars has a major issues of not staying true to source material, at least the previous trilogy cuz the shows are thriving. With Marvel, phase 4 was passable, and feel like people exaggerate how bad it was, but Quantumania is definitely something that can’t be avoided. Fiege stated he has a course correction plan and hopefully that includes numerous delays, and better hiring when it comes to directing and writing personnel. Can’t keep hiring inexperienced people/television/Rick and morty writers for your stories. Hopefully it’s more than just tampering with the release schedule. Some of the upcoming projects sound pretty promising, but whether they are actually given enough time to give the best script possible is unknown. And Star Wars, they’ve talked about so many movies that are being written and produced and nothing has happened with any of them. Just shows that Kathleen Kennedy isn’t entirely capable of handling that franchise.
I do however agree with the statement of needing to create more original stuff. However I feel like a lot of studios are guilty of that

Reply to comment by AlanMorlock in What would happen if no more superhero films were made for the foreseeable future? by nayapapaya
Some of the ones that have been guilty aren’t always franchise films but there have been some over the years that are, like Harry Potter, Avatar is gonna be a long running one, Fast and Furious as you said, Jurassic World, and if you’d consider it blockbusters the LOTR trilogy, obviously Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond still makes a shit ton, Transformers, Mission Impossible, and the Hunger Games. Obviously superhero movies make a bunch more than a lot of these, but all these still make MASSIVE amounts of money, and are also guilty. And then there’s obviously some stand-alone blockbusters that are also guilty.

I’m not saying superhero movies aren’t the most guilty, I’m just saying they aren’t the only ones who are guilty. As the years go on there are more big names blockbusters that go on that keep making a shit ton of money, superhero movies obviously heavily included. I’m not saying superhero movies aren’t guilty of that cuz they definitely are, I’m just saying that they aren’t the only ones guilty.
