Lol. I like how upper-middle class suburban folks in zero crime areas have a lot of opinions on this, but lower-income urban residents who actually could benefit from armed self-defense are not even considered. This taxes their budgets the most. Taxes on Second Amendment rights helps no one.

The gas tax roll-back was intended to ease a potentially-massive energy spike due to a world war breakout in Eastern Europe a year ago.

That war is on a slow burn and will definitely get worse. Now state is hedging their bets as to gently taking back those tax cuts or leaving them.

Encourage your legislators to keep the tax cuts! This a tax cut for everyone, includes free bus fare. State coffers are doing just fine without it and it’s one less thing to showcase about this state being outrageously expensive.

This. The “bad” area of Middletown is limited to the north-end. Avoid pretty much all apartments near downtown and the hospital. Wesleyan is right in that and has a good balancing effect. Walking down Main St is about as rough as it gets, which is absolutely nothing compared to Hartford.

The “Westlake” section way out on the west side on the border of Cromwell is apartment complex land. It’s safe over there, sometimes cars can get hit at night due to the proximity to the highways. There’s some crap housing developments to avoid, you’ll know when you see them. The area is far from downtown, though.

Most of Middletown is suburban or rural to the south. Very few rentals. Housing market still red hot there.

Oh I know where this area is- this is the OG old historic house area, mostly antique, lining Main St right around the corner. Totally a NIMBY situation. This area is watching the other side of Hebron Ave being commercially developed and does not want the traffic and noise. Agree with them or not, it’s just wealthy people with big old houses who are going to keep showing up at P&Z meetings. If no one noticed, virtually ALL the new commercial development (including condos) is north of Hebron Ave to East Hartford- and that’s by design.
