Honestly the original argument was about gay marriage, I was just hoping to tow tear down the repetitive rhetoric and get to the core of what someone is in support of gay people living a normal life with other consenting adults, in the poll in will specify that and perhaps make a separate poll specifically about the trans community

Buy what is the core reason for you or one you have heard? Set aside the extraneous for a moment and break it down to the core:

Against: It's against my religion; it grosses me out/makes me uncomfortable; it is a parents role to explain such things when they feel the time is right; etc.

For: I don't want to be/see them oppressed or ostracized; I don't want to be perceived as a bigot; I honestly don't care/ let grown adults do what they want so long as it is consensual; etc

I would like to know the categories of concern regarding the motivations for and against gay right?

For example: I just had a conversation with a dear friend whom believes that being gay is a fault. It took us over an hour to get anywhere in the conversation because I believed his end goal is to somehow oppress the "other than straight" community through legislation or other means.

So my fear was the oppression of "the gays" that is motivation one.

His presumption is that "straight people" whom defend "the gays" only do so to not be perceived as "evil"

His argument against it is he doesn't want to have the conversion about sexual orientation with his children until they're old enough.

There is obviously the religious motivation but are there any other perspectives to include in the poll to see why people feel the way they do we can have an informed discussion?

TL:DR Why are you for or against lgbt(etc.) rights?

Please be civil, I am genuinely curious and unfortunately this topic is prone to trolls.
