Driving home last night, the temp dropped from 40 to 31 in about 10 minutes, and we had ice and snow. Guess Old Man Winter isn’t giving up the ghost yet.

There is no place like where we live. I can literally ride my bike 5 minutes to the local MTB trail, another 5 to a second, and that links to at third. I can be at Tiger Mountain trailhead in 15-20 minutes. Rattlesnake is 30 minutes. Mt Si in about the same time. Fly fishing, skiing, road cycling, camping…it’s all literally minutes away in pretty much any direction you want to travel. I wish it were cheaper to live here, but for an outdoor person I can’t imagine how it could be better.

Sounds like a good day to sit by the window and drink hot chocolate…or bourbon. Whichever does it for you.

I can see myself standing in the middle of this, with a fly rod in one hand a flask in the other. Pic well done!

We had snow in Sammamish, but it melted literally two seconds after it stopped coming down.

Reply to Planning 3nights in Portland. Traveling from Victoria, BC. Any good stops on the way worth stopping for? by [deleted]
Definitely stop at the border. They get testy if you don't.
After that, LaConnor would be a nice place for lunch and a stretch of the legs. I'm an airplane geek, so there's the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Seattle. Olympia for a look at the State Capitol. There are factory stores in Chehalis, but you may do better on prices in Portland, with no sales tax (if you plan to ship a bit).

I’m good with fining folks who snarl traffic. If you get lost in the woods, or they have to pluck you off a mountain, you can be stuck with a bit SAR bill. I’d say the same logic should apply to idiots who are not prepared to deal with snowy conditions.

There were a lot of folks there, just not in this shot. Many a picture and selfies galore. Trust me, a lot of folks wanted to see the last one.

That seems to be the Starbucks strategy so far. If that continues, I'm guessing they'll need to close a lot of stores because I think the cat is out of the bag.

I have quit trying to park in the lot, when I take my truck. Folks park in the entryway and exit, and I can’t fit to get out. Even with a pass, I park just outside so I don’t get stuck in the lot.
