THIS. My approach is usually read the book then listen to the audiobook, and I don’t know what it is but it gives me a good feeling of closure. Ended up doing it with three books this year.

Not an exhaustive list, but it could have been born at the rescue, been very young when they found it (it came into care to same year it was adopted), come straight from a puppy mill, or could have been been surrendered voluntarily by an owners who provided vet history.

Meanwhile I’m fighting with work to get them to shut the gd heat off. It’s a factory; it literally heats itself between all the ovens and machinery, but nope, gotta keep it 95+ because a select few can’t grasp the concept of a sweater.
