Thank you for this post. I am concerned about our basement( really a half-basement, with exposed side north facing) which is not heated. We do have the furnace and boiler down there and that does kick out some heat. Our radon mitigation system (water and air) is nowhere near the heat source, so we are brainstorming how to keep it from freezing. So, far I’ve gleaned keeping the furnace at 72 for those two days. Any other ideas?

Anybody live in Amherst? I’d be spreading a word of warning about this disgraceful POS. I have no idea when he said this though, so maybe the townspeople already know about him.

Nailed it. This is a great place to live, but you better know how to cover your butt if you’re rural. We learned some lessons with this event. It’s all good, everyone safe and sound and the house is ok. We drained our pipes, both baseboards and plumbing. Definitely a learning experience for us. We thought we were ahead of the curve, but the guy installing our whole house generator disappeared around Thanksgiving. Counting on contractors was another valuable lesson. It does look like things are warming up this week, so there’s that.

Yes, it’s ridiculous! Newly elected and already not showing up for your constituents is shameful. Aside from calling their office to complain and voting them out next go round, what other methods do we have to keep those in the senate and the house accountable?
