I think it's a combination problem, I have a hrv. At night even with thr headlights off the instrument cluster lights up. There were more than a few times we got out the driveway and went oh..

There is clearly a problem with the pole placement. Someone mentioned odd angles and such. I know the perfect drivers here have never made a mistake and all. I've almost hit one of these poles myself. You have the combination of a blind spot from the windshield pillar with people darting in and out between cars and that man with the small phallus starts backing his monster truck at you and you turn quick to dodge it.
Something should be done. The pole needs to be there, what about putting one of those cages that they put on trees around it? Put some smaller poles around it? Put a curb around it?
