Thank God you looked under the car! And you won't need telling now, but a good torch is honestly worth its weight in gold. Especially if you regularly drive along rural roads.
My sons bought me one. It wasn't the earth. Handle at the top + a handle at the side; it's the shape of a thick waisted hourglass.the bottom glows orange + The top glass shines a white beam of light. Best of all, it came with two chargers, a mains charger, and in-car charger.
Get a good torch. Keep it in your car. Just in case.
