We have several Maine-owned seed and nursery companies. Fedco is a Clinton-based co-op that has a great selection of seeds and plants with great information. They are accepting orders for spring now. Pinetree Seeds and Johnny’s are also wonderful. Coast of Maine has a really good raised bed mix that is ready to go. I agree that raised beds are great for beginners. You can even purchase tall ones that you don’t need to bend or kneel with. Be prepared to fail a lot at first, but it is all a learning experience!

Welcome to Maine! Yes! Absolutely this. If you plan on walking anywhere in the winter, get some sort of traction to clip on to your shoes. Ice can really build up on uneven sidewalks, especially if they are brick. I have these. They are a little pricier, but they last awhile. I have had mine for 5+ years. They are easy to get on and off once you break them in a little. https://www.rei.com/product/890608/kahtoola-microspikes-traction-system

If the job you have allows you to live comfortably while giving you time and energy to do fun and fulfilling things, then you are doing fine. Enjoy what you have! You are not ahead or behind. You are where you are. Plus Biddo is really coming around to be an awesome place to live! Go have a beer at one the breweries or get a treat from Reilly’s Bakery!

Please don’t do this. I have rented for so many years with neighbors who would regularly fill my apartment with weed smell. I don’t care if people smoke weed, but people need be more considerate about it. Think about it like smoking a cigarette. Step outside for a few minutes or find a non-invasive way to enjoy yourself like a vape.
