Please tell him to change the oil and wash the car. That Avalon would still be on the first engine and may not be completely rotted out and still going if he does so. I live in Wisconsin so I know cars aren’t truly BIFL with the salt factor.

Red Wing Irons Rangers or Blacksmiths. Nicks boots also occasionally has deals, but they’re typically between 500-600 for the heritage style. He’ll likely have both for life, but Nicks are far and away better quality.

Does it really matter if you don’t change the oil anyways.

Brand new cars minus tech? The cheapest option available. 10-20 years? Probably none if you don’t change the oil. I’d probably take a look at Kia. Otherwise find a 98 crown Victoria in New Mexico.

On the socks subject…the original creators of Smartwool have a new company called Point6. Haven’t tried them, just an FYI

There’s absolutely no reason to use it outside of nostalgia like you said or habit.

Tile Slim claims 3 years battery life. Also in the event of someone actually stealing it I’mnot sure you’d want it to beep, but that’s just me. Will just be a signal to them to toss the tracker.

What size do you wear? I’ll be honest, I was about to call bullshit on this until I saw the laces burning halfway through the eyelets. As far as new boots, I’d try on a pair as their sizing may not be consistent with what it was 10-12 years ago. Thorogood is kinda goofy with sizing as most people actually need to go wider it seems. Otherwise check out r/workboots, though most will just tell you to get Thorogoods or $700 Nicks/Whites. RoseAnvil on YouTube is also worth checking out.

You might be the first person I’ve seen here say something non-positive about Saddleback. This place typically won’t stop talking about them.

I’ve got a pretty nice Duluth belt I’ve worn at minimum 5 days a week for 5 years. Wouldn’t wear it to a wedding, but it works for office settings and has held up for me in “heavy use” scenarios.

I have varying styles of darn tough, smart wool and REI (thicker style with the REI) for several years now. I still can’t tell which is best. I have one pair of darn tough, iirc, that fit kinda small comparatively to my others that are exactly the same size and style. I’d recommend all tbh. Otherwise Kirkland merino wool is worth checking out I’ve heard. Point6 is another I’ve heard of but haven’t tried, the owners originally created smartwool

Length and width is the same, height is the difference. Certainly doesn’t work with nesting but space wouldn’t be as big of an issue as they can still stack kinda). They’ll ruin them though as the inside of the lip will eventually crack and chip.

I had a Norelco for years but they stopped making the heads for it. Got the series 7 or 9 (honestly not sure anymore) 5 years ago and love it. I don’t necessarily shave every day anymore, but used to get razor burn really bad until I switched to electric.

I have a Corsair Virtuoso that is fairly overbuilt. Good quality but not very comfortable for extended periods of time (3+ hours). Recently got a Steelseries Arctis Nova 7 and it’s great. The pro model is a bit nicer, but I didn’t care for the rubber/leather part around the ear. Both wireless, but only wireless with the dongle (I believe).

I wear single piece leather boots all winter in Wisconsin with good socks. But if someone is looking for insulated and considering LL Bean and snow, not sure how great it’d be. I wear Chippewa Apache 6” or Thorogood Moc toes (both steel toes) and I’m fine. But if I’m in deep snow or outside for extended periods of time I use my Rocky’s

GoRuck. Edit* a bigger factor is probably what the weight is you are carrying. Goruck is designed for mass but not necessarily density. Also I am an idiot and my mass and density example might not be right.
