Reply to Air Compressor for Painting Furniture by posas85
I have a 3hp 60g that I use for general shop stuff. I have on a few occasions used it to paint car parts with a standard hf hvlp gun and found too small for anything bigger that a hood and a few panels. Auto paint is pretty thin and I can’t imagine it would work with water based stuff. It would work fine for a single small part though. Echoing what has been said before, some of the airless systems are really nice and would be a lot cheaper than investing 5k into an air compressor.

Reply to I know it's a cliché around here, but my Saddleback Leather satchel is over 10 years old and has a quarter million air miles on it, mostly shoved under a seat. It does not lead a sheltered life and it's in fantastic shape. by is_it_on
Op. This is a great bag. I have almost the same one and I have used it daily for 10+yrs. I also make leather bags as a hobby and spend way too much time thinking about their construction etc. the company gets a bad wrap around here from leather snobs for various reasons (chrome tanned leather, machine sewed, no edge work). But really, those are just superfluous for the average user. Saddleback makes excellent quality leather bags at a reasonable price for what you get. They are overbuilt, tough, and basic. I will say their quality has gone down a bit over the years but not dramatically and they have an excellent warranty/costumer service. The owner, while being a bit quirky, seems like a generally good person who has managed to run his company well, employs a lot of people, and lives a crazy life. There are certainly fancier bags, cheaper ones, and surely much more expensive handmade ones, but this one will do everything that you ask of it and is definitely BIFL.

Eh. I get your point but a 50hp minivan or a pickup with a family of four would slow as crap and sorta dangerous. I remember driving an old vw a few times and they would certainly get from point a to point b but they were pretty anemic. Part of this is just the enormous mass of modern vehicles. Let’s say more than 200hp is probably not necessary? But 400 is perfect
