I was slightly skeptical about American writing a book set in this time and era but the book was ok. I did not quite understand the hype around it as it was nothing special and I felt that the author did not utilize the era properly. There are flashes here and there of the atrocities of what the boshelviks were doing to people but I still missed a a bit depth relating to this story. For me it was nice read but definitely not a book I will be re-reading.

I do not really like N.K.Jensin as a person and many of her opinions are making me wanna throw up. That said, the broken earth trilogy is an absolutely great trilogy and while the second Person Narrative is unusual it is not a self purpose tool and everything comes together. If I were you I would definitely give it another shot because it is one of the best stories I ever read. So yeah, your are MISSING OUT.

Ever since I re-read the books as an adult I would say Dumbledore. We get bits and pieces where its serves the story and there is a bit more on pottermore but I think that once you read the book as an adult you realize that his story arc could be a stand alone series and he could be developed into a really interesting anti-hero if the book was for adults. I would love to understand more about his thoughts, his (at times) almost Machiavellian scheming as well as his development.
