Not just a “one-two” punch debut in films but a “one-two-three” punch before sadly passing away too early: James Dean.

All three of his films, East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause, and Giant are considered classics of 1950’s cinema and his acting in each of the three is spectacular.

What might have he done had he not died in a car accident?

Agreed. Coppola's reimaginings, while interesting to see for fans of the film, don't really make it much better IMHO and in many sequences actually make it worse.

For example, the Kilgore sequence with Robert Duvall is absolutely PERFECT IMHO in the theatrical cut. It starts, goes on, and ends just perfectly with Duvall's "Some day this war will end" line, which leaves viewers wondering if he'll actually miss the carnage or realizes -crazy though he is- that war needs to eventually end and with it, people like him.

It's such a freaking great scene and Coppola unwisely chose to return footage in the expanded versions which carried that scene further into... slapstick?! It involved stealing Kilgore's surfboards and... yikes did it not work, IMHO.

Whenever this topic is posted (and it has been quite a bit), this is always my answer.

Alien is everything you want in a trailer: It’s intriguing, mysterious, and draws you in. In this case, by showing a mysterious landscape and egg… you’re instantly curious as to what will happen and the visuals are matched with the eerie music. And when the egg cracks, its just light protruding from the crack nothing more yet its so fucking terrifying by that point!

The best thing?

Though there are a few clips of the movie proper, NOTHING about the movie is spoiled in the trailer, but it sure as hell gives you an idea of what you’re in for in seeing the film itself!

And though I hate to admit it, another trailer that was pretty spectacular (and, sadly, can’t say the same about the movie), is that of the first Suicide Squad film.

What worked so well during the Talos sequence, IMHO, was not only the wonderful stop motion effects but the sound effects as well.

It truly sounded like a metallic creature’s movements, screaming metal as it moved!

As terrific as the skeleton fighting sequence was, and it too was incredible, my favorite sequence is the Talos one!
