Decentralization is a mechanism for people to take back power over larger application networks, so over time it seems likely to be a bigger deal as people eventually get fed up enough with the private options. It stands the test of time better in theory as you don't need to have an account on 5 different platforms to see what all your friends are doing, you can have one instead, which is an appeal that will most likely catch on as tech and the internet continue to get more complex.
The key thing is the ability of the community to support it. When private businesses die, they mostly just stay dead and the remnants left behind are community driven efforts. When an instance on mastodon dies, mastodon continues on. As long as one mastodon instance is live, mastodon is live, and that's something private alternatives can't provide due to their reliance on income and control.

I hate this so much cause this system could definitely be fixed and improved but people make money off it failing so efforts are made to never change it in meaningful ways. Just like how all the people you can file your taxes through lobby so taxes stay hard and you have to rely on them to complete it.

In the polyamorous community, jealousy is still a thing that exists. The main method of tackling this has always been communication, expressing to each other how things make you feel and try to find a solution to overcome that.
Mind you you also have to be willing to change things you might be doing in order for this system to work, because otherwise you are asking your partners something you yourself are not willing to do. Multiple people can't function in a relationship if only a few of them are doing all the work. Not in a healthy one at least.
But yeah, just talk with them. It brings you closer, it makes you feel safer, it shows each other trust, and it can easily fix issues you might be going through. My partner and I have been going through a lot of mental health stuff lately and every time we fight it turns into a conversation trying to understand why the fight happened, which often turns into a lot of introspection and healing over past trauma. We used to think fights destroy relationships but we changed how we fight and now it's more like charged healing and bonding.

Make the camera actually useful with alternate vision modes. Night vision, heat vision, and whatever else so more humans can see more of the spectrum of our reality
