I know a person who bought their first handgun, a revolver, and ended up putting a hole in their bathroom wall because they didn't read the manual before loading it and cocked the hammer back and wondered why they couldn't unlatch the cylinder anymore. They had a Florida carry permit for almost a decade, and since the state's renewal policy is just a fee, photo and paperwork, it was obvious that it had been a long time since they'd ever had any training.

Not lewd, but German weapon manufacturer Heckler and Koch had a bunch of catalogs made for a convention and the photographer who took the shots of one of their pistols must not have ever shot a gun ever because they loaded the magazine backwards.

A British anarchist named PA Lutty published guides on how to make submachine guns without heavy machinery. He was arrested for illegal firearms production but died of cancer before being prosecuted, and people in the UK who have downloaded his guides have been raided by law enforcement. No idea how it's treated in the US, but the more recent debates over 3D gun files rings similar.
