Reply to Why are we so stuck on using “AGI” as a useful term when it will be eclipsed by ASI in a relative heartbeat? by veritoast
ASI is what we'll be talking about in the years to come. With the exception of forms of ASI via narrow AI's and human cognition enhancements there's a certain cut and dry type of ASI that we'll know is here when we see it.
AGI is what's happening right now or close to happening and things that are closer are often what's focused on more.
Grand Theft Auto 7 could be dramatically better than 6 but which is currently talked about more? 6, because it's closer

Lmao joaquin phoenix really didn't think that out. That's one of the first questions I woulda asked the AI. "Are you talking to anyone else?"
He waits until the movies half over to finally ask that

Aliens that travel space could be AI unless it's like the flood from Halo. They're a weird parasite species that feed on other sentient life. Or the precursors. Similar to the black goo from Prometheus

I see what you're saying but you have to admit that's your opinion. You can't sit there and say with 100% certainty that Aliens wouldn't want anything from us or vice versa.
If nothing else one might want to control the other

Maybe he thought she was solely designed for him, I can't remember

It gets tricky. Those type of ppl were against the vaccine and many even thought the government was trying to use it to track them but on the other hand they do seem to love smart phones and social media.
I'm guessing they'll fall in line once it's mainstream enough and convenient with a certain percentage complaining about it

Rather than dismiss doomers maybe we should try to understand them more. Like why even come here to type a negative spin on something you don't know a lot about?
Is it because they only watch CNN and read Washington Post? Or maybe they're depressed in life. Or it could be they're religious and it clashes with their beliefs and annoys them. I knew a guy who was like that

Reply to comment by vivehelpme in Meta's chief AI scientist says "ChatGPT is not innovative". by ZaKodiak
I understand what you're saying as this was more or less my reaction to what he said but from a devil's advocate perspective it is innovative due to the presentation and availability.
If me you and 50,000 other guys created magic mirrors that make you look younger and you're the only one who releases it to the public then in a way you're the innovative one even if I've been studying magic mirrors for 20 years.
Maybe I'm wrong but the one who can release a product to the masses is the innovative one simply because no one else has been able to do it yet.

Same because the bot can just call you if something goes wrong or have live video so you can check in without having boring conversations with the sitter

I been waiting on the day for awhile. Most ppl worried about their jobs but I'm looking further ahead and trying to decide which planet I'm gonna party on during weekends.
Sounds silly but in the long run it seems my concerns are more meaningful than worrying about something that'll eventually be automated

Not much I'm guessing
