As MD should, I see cars with busted shocks and bald tires all the time. Like suspension so messed up the thing will be twerking all over the highway. Like how TF do you think it's acceptable to drive 60-90 mph on a 3-5 lane freeway and your car is bouncing like it's at the club? Assholes.

Wait, so what are you supposed to do with mop water?? Dump water full of chemicals/soap outside? And I'm a homeowner but I still get plant dirt into my sink sometimes, it happens when watering houseplants? Been in this house 3 years now and my ancient main sewer hasn't imploded yet, nor have I had any other plumbing issues. Seems dramatic.

Care to elaborate? To my understanding the old "postmarked" thing went away with the rise in electronic billing and companies must actually RECEIVE the check by the due date, or they can charge a late fee. The USPS has become notoriously unreliable over the last several years. I REFUSE to mail a check because it has EVERYTHING someone would need to set up fraudulent transfers, so when I had a bill that needed to be paid via USPS last year I sent a money order certified mail, it took 6 weeks to be recieved. It was NEVER scanned as delivered as the USPS was no help, they said "oh it probably got delivered and they forgot to scan it."

It's the interest free loan part, they know what they're doing, by the time the money gets back to you it's already deflated in value to their advantage

No, it's not. One could be on city council 2 terms, city council president 2 terms, then mayor 2 terms. Name one company that gives pensions after 8 years or troll somewhere else.

Actually not true, because they could run for other positions in city government. Also, ANDDDDD?? Let's be honest here, they didn't EARN one after 12 years either! What other organization/company gives a pension after 8 OR 12 years? I have to be at my job 10 years to be "vested" but I actually need like 25+ years of service to meet the full requirements. Baltimore City government is like a parasitic monarch, it's totally self serving to those in charge. As if 70k/year isn't compensation enough.....half of the members miss half the meetings anyways, even fail to vote on key issues being discussed

I'd be down to scream and shout on Holiday Street if anybody else is. Not sure it'll do anything tho, it seems like the government here only gets more arrogant and pushes harder when people stand up. That's literally what they're doing here "ohhhhh you THOUGHT you'd get rid of us, okay fine but we're still getting a pension hahahahaha." Look how they continue to praise the school leaders for the great job they're doing as people protest various issues in front of city schools headquarters.

But it's NOT just fox rhetoric, that's my point. Just over the weekend somebebody was telling me how they switched their living rooms and dining rooms to avoid bullets on Preston St (down the hill) and their exact words were, "you gotta do what ya gotta do when you live in a warzone. I've heard people living in Carrollton Ridge decribe their neighborhood as a warzone, this is not isolated, I've heard dozens of Baltimore residents describe their neighborhoods as warzones. You saying people living in Baltimore don't have this perspective is just FALSE.

There are absolutely people that live here that describe it as such, you think the people living in the rough areas of the city live in some imaginary fairy land? A 13 year old just died from being shot in the head near Douglas-homes. A 14 year old was just shot in the back in Belair-Edison. Pretty recently a 9 year old fatally shot a 15 year old in Edmonson-Village and the family felt it was intentional. There are BRUTAL assaults everyday and many are just random bad-ass kids looking for trouble. I think pretending everything is rosey is just as bad as completely sh***** on the city. These are REAL PEOPLE, not numbers. The murder rate doesn't even begin to paint the real picture, we have way more non-fatal shootings and many of those victims now require long-term care. Many victims of assault have life-long injuries. I don't understand why people get butthurt when somebody points all of this out. Yes, the same thing is happening in other cities, that doesn't mean our extremely high rate of violence should just be swept under the rug.

The thing of it is ALL the kids are in ski masks now. Can't even walk into a gas station without walking past a bunch of teens/young men in ski masks now. It's crazy, this was never ALLOWED before the pandemic for people to hang in public places especially places that carry money with face coverings.

Name some...that aren't contributing to the status quo. Like our mayor who I actually liked at one point until he started blatantly disrespecting people who dare to question him. Been in city politics his ENTIRE life and he's more worried about maintaining those relationships than holding people accountable. It doesn't matter what any city agency does, he always gives his "trust and support" even when there's obvious wrongdoing.

What we actually want is people that build a career AND THEN go into politics. On a federal, state, and city level, we don't get many people that proved themselves by building a successful career. We get the numbnuts that can ONLY make a career out of (bad) public service. And honestly, who do you see being top dog at a company for 10 years? It's pretty rare. In the business world, talent moves in, talent moves on, younger talent with fresh ideas take over. In politics, people make a name for themselves and ride that to the grave.

Honestly I feel like people that say that are dumb. And I'm not knocking Canton, I enjoy it, although I would never pay that much for housing just to deal with traffic and parking. But let's be HONEST, most of the violent crime in the hood comes from peoples own making-personal drama or drugs. The nicer areas of Baltimore are where the criminals GO to rob people, that's common sense. I never understood the false sense of security that people living in Baltimore's nicer neighborhoods have. I live in a working class neighborhood in Southwest Baltimore and BPD's own crime maps would tell me I have a 10x higher chance of being robbed or carjacked in Canton/Fells point, or the nicer neighborhoods of North Baltimore than on my own street.

Reply to Do you feel safe at night in Canton? by pdshriekz
I think it's pretty safe, as far as "feeling safe," well that's how you mess up anywhere. You're not really safe anywhere and criminals look for the people lollygagging/not paying attention/headphones in/obviously under the influence. Don't be afraid to offend somebody by crossing the street if they look sus🤣. Don't hesitate to spin the block if there's suspect people hanging around, people do get carjacked and robbed quite frequently, in the nicer areas MORE so than the hood. I've been living in Baltimore for 4+ years now and visited especially to go out in Canton/Fells point for years before that, and never really had any issues. I had a nut chase me from Ritchie Hwy back into South Baltimore just to pull up on me and politely say "I'm a nice guy but you were driving pretty aggressive and I just wanted to let you know people shoot around here" 😭, had a scammer recently try and say I backed into his car and very aggressively try to intimidate me and get my insurance information (told him we can go right back to the alleged spot because they have HD cameras, he took a picture of my tags and never saw him again and no calls from insurance), and I've only had 1 super aggressive confrontation with the squeegee boys after years of daily interactions. I was a victim of crime more in my hometown of Salisbury, MD, had one of the scariest incidents of my life down there where my friend almost got abducted by 10-15 men in front of me in the middle of the night and of course in the panic the last thing on our minds was tag numbers so there was absolutely nothing for the police to follow up with. So basically, I'm saying, don't feel safe anywhere but don't be afraid either, if you like the vibe of Canton, move there, you'll enjoy it. And yes, people walk home from the square, again, iust limit the possessions you carry so in the off chance you do get robbed, you lose as little as possible. But that's anywhere. Because I've been robbed in the hoods of Salisbury but never anywhere in Baltimore

Lol! You realize half the low-level employees are crooks too right?! I don't use paper checks for ANYTHING, I'd rather pay a money order or certified check fee. Do people not realize how insanely insecure paper checks are? They've got EVERYTHING a person would need to do wire transfers, pay bills, whatever. It's got not just your account and routing number and name of your bank, but also your name and address, what more would a scammer want?

It takes me my coworkers that bus from the other side of the city like 1.5 hours by bus when it's like a 30 minute drive in the am and 45 in the afternoon. And that's just within the city. When I used to work in Parkville, there was a coworker that took the bus from Park Heights, it took her OVER 2 hours way. That's crazy. A few weeks ago somebody told me they think they sat in pee😭😭 If your experience is different I'm glad, but I'm not giving up my car anytime soon, I like to take frequent weekend road trips. And so if it's already purchased and insured.....and the cost of the bus is actually not even cheap anymore... isn't it like $5 now?! My lil Hyundai gets almost 20 miles mpg in the worst Baltimore traffic, so one gallon is several bus passes in essence

It's 10 miles across the city just within the limits, much further if you count to the inner suburbs that are just as just as dense and basically a continuation. If we HAD a public transportation system that was convenient and safe, you might have a point. But our current system is neither safe nor convenient for either close or crosstown travel. And they already don't make it easy to drive... you've seen the conditions of the roads, the cameras, the other wreckless drivers with fake tags....

The towing industry rep said "people love it when we come, I'll show you EMOJIS?!" Between that and council members receiving campaign contributions from towing companies, it's a mess. Of course, we already know that corruption is rampant and blatant
