We're renting ours out as a vacation rental so it's thankfully more than paid for.

We kept our house to rent out so we'll be back fairly often but yeah, no chance we'll move back permanently

Ha! That's too funny. Our house is near the intersection of Santa Barbara and Trafalgar.

I had a neighbor that flew a flag on this ridiculously tall flagpole that said, "Fuck Biden and Fuck you too for voting for him" with a middle finger picture. For Christmas they had a baby Jesus nativity scene.
The dumbest most hateful people live in Florida.

Exactly, for profit health insurance is a scam. Their only goal is to maximize profits for their shareholders, so that means they do all they can to avoid paying for care.
The system in other countries is much simpler because there are way fewer payers, sometimes only one and the goal of that agency is not to make profits.
Here we have thousands of middlemen that siphon off our money into their pockets while producing little to nothing of value and making everyone's lives more complicated.
By the way, the top 6 health insurance CEOs made $115 million last year. Just six people siphoned off over 100 million that could have gone to paying for healthcare. Disgusting

It's funny they would get all up in arms when they're snowbirds and run away from Florida in the spring, summer and fall lol

Wife and I moved to Florida in 2015. We enjoyed our time there but decided to come back for several reasons. The biggest thing was family, we have two kids now and everyone we know lives in CT. Aside from that though, the allure of Florida eventually wears away and you start seeing all the negatives. Terrible infrastructure with no real public transit anywhere in the state, underfunded schools with horribly unqualified teachers that seemingly get worse every year, and the low cost of living we enjoyed is no more since Florida is now one of the most expensive places to live.
Also, while I prefer warm weather generally, years of it always being hot wears on you. I am thankful for cool weather now. Finally, it's so darn flat and there are no real trails to enjoy.
There are some aspects that I'll miss about Florida but I'm happy to be home.

Well it's trending the other way and I don't see it coming back. The craziest people from every other state seemed to have flocked to Florida over the past 3 years.

We moved to Florida back in 2015 but just moved back this January. It's not all bad there but I definitely see why snowbirds exist. Living there year-round is not great and it's become horribly overcrowded with some of the worst people.

Reply to comment by RandyPhylum in Frontier vs. Comcast by RandyPhylum
My parents and sister both switched from Comcast to Frontier last year and have had nothing but positive feedback. They switched because Comcast was expensive, unreliable, and never actually reached the speeds quoted. My BIL sometimes works from home and has had no issues since the switch. My father used to have so many issues trying to stream video, he thought it was the service he used. Ever since they switched his streaming service runs like butter.
We just moved to Seymour and also got Frontier fiber per their recommendation. I work from home every day and decided to go with their 500 Mbps package to save a bit of money. It's only been about a week and a half but so far it has been really great and reliable. I am almost always sitting right at 500Mbps down and up, which is great and crazy fast.
Based on my own and my family's experience, I would recommend the switch.

I am originally from CT, moved to Florida in 2015 and just moved back. Initially we loved it, but as time went on the rose colored glasses came off and we started to see how Florida is really just a place to vacation, not live. The people seem friendly but it's all a facade. Over the past few years it got more crowded, rude and hyper partisan. Every other house has some vulgar political flag flying and a lot of the people are fake or crazy. Also, the infrastructure is horrible and I don't see them taking any steps to make it better.
We're so glad to be back. People might not be as initially friendly and welcoming but they're real and will help you when you need it.

My wife and I lived in Middletown about 8 years ago and we would happily move back. Downtown has it's areas but we've never had one issue and love it down there. The restaurant selection downtown is fantastic and if you're into hiking there are so many beautiful trails to visit in the area.
We lived in two separate apartment complexes on West lake drive (AKA condo heaven), Madison Northwoods and Hunter's crossing. Madison Northwoods was nicer but more expensive. There are plenty of other complexes to choose from though.
Overall, I think you'll like Middletown if you choose to live there!
