Yes- the eating tour of Central Vermont (I still go to the scoop shop at the factory too)! If you are into spirits you can add in a stop at the Smugglers Notch Distillery and if you like Coffee drive a bit further up the rd and check out Vt Artisan Coffee too!

We often stay at the La Quinta in Sommerville and you can walk to the Assembly Row stop on the Orange line in under 10 minutes. It is a bit worn but usually the rate is fare compared to places actually in Boston. It’s convenient to 93, has free parking and we enjoy window shopping/eating at Assembly Row. It’s only 4 stops to North Station from there.

Yeah, put in at cotton Brook and you can go pretty far before you get to the area that allows motor boats.

That would require me to learn how to ride a bike😆 but definitely more efficient than just a trailer and man power.

Wrightsville in the East Montpelier/Middlesex area is great- I rarely see motor boats and when I do they are always down by the damn/boat launch and don’t go fast. If you head away from the damn and up the river there is some lovely paddling and when the water is high enough you can get almost to the falls. Blueberry lake in Warren is all non-motorized and is small. I also really like Nichols Pond, the access is pretty remote and a little tricky to put in though.

But you gotta get your boat or SUP up there, I always admire the few paddlers I’ve seen up there and thought the campground hosts should transport some up at the start of the season to rent out. I would love to paddle up there but know I am not committed enough to either buy an inflatable/foldable Kayak/SUP or to schlep my Kayak up the trail!

And if you go south on 100 to 125 to get to Midd you can definitely detour to the Warren Store in Warren village. Also in Waitsfield there is a local artisan shop on Bridge St.

Seconding Vermont’s Own as an impartial 3 party (except for the fact I lived above the store for a few years)! It has a great variety of Vermont crafted items and food! And while in Midd you could also check out Sweet Cecile (some local items) and Danforth Pewter. The Midd Co-Op also has a nice range of locally produced food as well!

I just got over it for the first time and my friend’s doctor in Burlington said they are seeing highest rates ever in the waste water monitoring in Burlington.

I worked at the elementary school in Brandon for 8 years and lived in Middlebury. It is a great community, wonderful access to outdoor recreation, fabulous people and an activity community and a small but nice selection of locally owned restaurants. If possible see if Goshen, Pittsford, Leceister or Sudbury have a property that will fit the bill for you and enjoy your time in that area!

Drive through my town and you’ll see plenty of barns in good order that are no longer in use. When I was a kid on my family farm there were 15+ dairy farms in my area. Now we are down to one dairy farm, 2 beef operations and another dairy farm that uses all their product to make cheese in just the span of 30 years.

Thank you- realistically they are probably looking at living in towns that are served by Rutland HS, West Rutland, Mill River HS, the HS in Bethel, Woodstock HS or Otter Valley HS in Brandon. Or they could opt to send their kids to Killington Mountain School or the private Catholic HS in Rutland. Rutland is the largest community near Killington, and many of the other towns surrounding Killington can feel isolated and lacking of amenities. As you continue to explore your options moving to Vt focus on those areas, otherwise your husband commute will be quite long.

West Meadow Bakery in Essex is gluten free, and other places have GF options. The Champlain Valley and Addison county are home to a number of Apple orchards with their own cideries so it is worth a drive down to check out Shacksbury Cider and Champlain Orchards, you can also go to Woodchuck in Middlebury (which is a big operation but their tasting room is nice). Stowe is always a mob scene in the fall, if I venture that way in October I’ve found an early start helps with the crowds. If you are in the Mad River Valley check out Lawsons.

And if you want to try a local frozen delicacy you should really go for a creemee! Not sure what parts of the state you will hit but Palmer Lane Maple in Jericho, Morse Farm Maple Sugar Works in Montpelier and Burlington Bay on the waterfront in Burlington are all great options (and they have flavors beside maple). Canteen Creemee in Waitsfield & Crossroads Deli jn Waterbury are also solid options.
