I had 2 Haier units put in in October (separate 2 ton compressor for each head unit). Cost me about $10k and took 2 days. Did not connect it to existing heating systems, didn’t run any ductwork as I have a fairly open floor plan.
No complaints with the units. My electric bill has gone up, of course. The electric increase plus my payment is about break even for the winter months compared to using fuel oil. I do turn my furnace on if the temp are staying in the teens, but I’ve only used half a tank this winter.

Depends on what you are using, what you are keeping in (or out) and how much maintenance you want to do.
I fenced in a yard for my dogs with 4x4’s and packed driveway stone around them. 4 years in they haven’t budged, they are at MOST 3 feet deep probably closer to 2.5
Pounded cedar posts in for livestock, tend not to go as deep, but you may have to do some maintenance every year or so to pound a few back in or straighten some out.

My crystal ball is in the shop right now, but you have a pretty good chance of snow anywhere in VT in January. And it’s likely to be bitter cold too. Not sure what kind of parks you want, but snow and cold are going to make playgrounds largely unusable, and those with walking paths are mostly not cleared of snow and ice.

If you are willing to stretch the distance a bit, The Drake in St Albans has done private events, and the food and service is amazing.

No one can decide if you are making a good decision better than you can. Do you have jobs lined up? Have you looked at housing options? Vermont surprises people with a higher cost of living that you might expect. Rental housing can be nonexistent in most areas. It’s beautiful. And cold. So cold. For 6+ months a year. If you enjoy “city living” you might find VT hard to adapt to.

Enforcement varies a lot, GENERALLY, no one is driving around looking for dogs and checking to see if they are licensed. However, it’s cheap and you should do it. Plus, if your dog got loose or anyone complained about it for whatever reason, you’d get fined for not having it done.
