Burlington shows it this year as a Professional Development day so it looks like teachers are expected to attend. That seems like a problem for the district.

Reply to comment by NotLindyLou in Maine has the lowest student/teacher ratio in the United States (11:1) by IrwinRSchyster1
I’ve never only ever taught in Maine and 15 is the sweet spot for 7-12. I consider myself lucky to never have had 30-40 students some teachers have.
Can’t believe anyone would complain about 15 students.
A-roguebanana t1_jddcklh wrote
Take this data with a grain of salt. I have 120 students a day. Divided over 6 periods I average 20 per class.
BTW I consider 20 per class reasonable given the age of students.
Special Ed classrooms might have 6 kids or less at a time but that work is much harder in some ways to a “regular” teacher.

Reply to Chevy Trax AWD in Maine by [deleted]
If you want AWD don’t do it in a Trax. They are awful. Subarus are more true AWD than a lot of others that are FWD unless there is slip detected and even then it can be dodgy.
Others have said snow tires are more important and that is 100% true. In fact, FWD with good snows is 10x better that AWD without and it’s 99% as good as AWD with snow tires.

Reply to what is up dog hunting in Vermont? by zoolilba
There’s a sense of entitlement with some of these hunters who don’t control their dogs. Land that has changed hands don’t want dogs running loose on it. The hunters don’t care or want to be told they can’t so it’s caused issues. It’s lead to calls to end the practice and of course this becomes a fight between tradition and newcomers.
I’m a hunter and born/raised in Vermont and the ones that let the dogs roam free to hunt are assholes. They misinterpret the law about retrieving game on property to justify following the dogs.
They want to be allowed to trespass

One important thing to point out is that heat pumps can operate well enough in the -10 range but not all can. You’re going to pay a significant premium for pumps that can do that. People don’t seem to understand that not all heat pumps are created equal

FWIW I tried skiing first and couldn’t get the hang of it. Granted I didn’t have a proper lesson. First time out snowboarding (without a lesson) I could make it down the mountain. I picked it up faster and a proper lesson helped a lot.
Lost Valley is a nice hill. Camden is good too.

Reply to What do you think of Vermont population wise? Do you think it’s perfect the way it is? Too crowded? Not enough Cities? Open Discussion by Golfoneway95
Folks have been moving to Vermont for years (especially lately) because of the quality of life and the improvements over the places they moved from. THEN you get the “you know what this place needs” ideas and slowly the state is becoming the places people were trying to escape in the first place. Why move to a place just to change it?
