I also use Keebio boards because of the 4th Button from the left. If you don’t want the split you could build a Convolution that just released, not hotswap though. That position for main modifier is so underrepresented and unknown, but I think it’s even better than pinky on caps lock because of some of the opt combos on Mac. Plus you don’t have to move your hand at all compared to bottom left main mod, which is more of a preference thing, but I like it

The only thing arguably closer would probably be thumb clusters like on a columnar stagger board, but For me the main ergonomics boost comes from the split rather than layout

If only this keyboard came with a proper southpaw numpad… very weird to advertise “southpaw/lefty layout” & include right-handed numpad support only

Be careful about doing this as you’ve explained the orders are actually shipping or have a date. This process is for actually canceled products that will never ship. Being slow isn’t breaking contract

You have a right to be unsatisfied even if you do eventually receive it, but as other comments have stated, it’s not like the product has gone silent. A breach of contract is a reason to contact your bank. Being slow when the product was originally advertised as being slow to arrive isn’t a breach of contract

If you really feel the vendor is giving you the run around, then that’s a different story, and let’s be clear, either way your experience is a bad one and you have the right to be unsatisfied with it

If you want wireless but still a hobby-level keyboard, you’re pretty much looking at QwertyKeys’s QK75 or the Keychron Q1 Pro, or whatever the 75% K Pro series is, off the top of my head. Don’t know if Meletrix’s Zoom or Monsgeek’s M1 can be wireless (or are available)

An aluminum plate isn’t the heaviest plate, but it’s heavier than plastic plates like POM or PC. the weight will mostly come from the case and/or weight though, not the plate. Although a brass plate in a plastic case will contribute a decent amount of weight.

Your limiting factor is wireless. I’d encourage you to do some more research and see what 75% options are around right now. It sounds like you have no real idea what you want because all the other things you’ve listed (i.e., heavy, plate options, hotswappable) are basically standard now

Oil kings vs. KS-3 blacks:

  • Have the top housing cutout to eliminate (supposedly) north-facing interference
  • have a flipped Gateron logo compared to the KS-3’s
  • have a black spring as another commenter mentioned
  • I believe also a slightly different bottom housing, I don’t think it’s the shape, it’s the mold marks (but you shouldn’t have to check that anyway as the first 2 are easier)

This is like the 3rd post I’ve seen (and maybe this was first idk) mistaking KS-3 blacks for Oil Kings. I’m not complaining, good to spread knowledge, but come on I feel like you should at least check for the top housing cutout, it’s a defining feature of the newer Gat molds like the Oil Kings and CJ’s

I was under the impression that last year was a much higher % of old stock as opposed to this year, but I don’t know where I got that

Ink Blacks are a great pull at that price

Yeah if I got a clickjacket switch I’d just have a bag taking up space because I wouldn’t even give those away

Just because the ones they have in stock for this mystery drop are mostly probably manufacturer extra stock, which will be some of the less popular or cheaper switches they made extra of. It’s less likely that you get “good” switches, although that’s more subjective

If they were more popular switches or “higher quality,” then they probably wouldn’t sell them all for this price/ they would just list them on the site and people would buy them full price anyway. I’m sure they’ll mix in a few nicer sets, but not anywhere near half even will be Creams or Black Inks V2, etc.

I think for your sister it’s fine, and for the price almost any switch is decent if the user isn’t going to mind or just wants another feel than what they already have

It follows established naming conventions for PBT rereleases of existing GMK-produced sets

Whom it was designed by is separate. GMK Olivia being named after Olivia, a known and established designer, was a personal choice. A different set with a relatively similar design doesn’t also have to be named after them. I don’t call Spellbook “Novelkeys_ Bub” or GMK Copper “GMK fatboycarney.” I see what you’re getting at, but it’s missing the point

I don’t think they need to rename it, but it would be nice to have an upfront disclaimer that it’s not a recreation, but a similarly inspired set
