What they’re saying is that, in the eyes of the user (which many here are), Microsoft did not deliver the MVP. Maybe the MVP minus the task bar but not the MVP. MVP needs to hit the right marks to be considered “viable”.
For reference, I’m a product manager and develop MVPs and iterate on them. When a bunch of users aren’t happy with the MVP, it means I missed something. Because Microsoft added the taskbar in pretty quickly after release of 11, it looks like they also realized they should have had it for launch.
Edit: spelling

Do you? Developers rarely decide what features stay or go or come back again.

I saw spoken examples of the full version during a Google presentation in college a few years ago and it was scary good. I wouldn’t have known it wasn’t a person if I hadn’t been told in advance.

When your user base has reached critical mass, the founders are rich beyond belief, and investors/Wall Street are breathing down your neck, it’s really easy to focus on short-term goals instead of your users.
And this is why we as a people should truly be focused on competition and anti big company. No one can compete with Google or Apple or Microsoft and those who may will just be acquired if they are a threat.
