Mange isn’t something animal control would trap and treat, for wild life. You can call an animal rescue group and see if they’ll do it. But, usually, during winter most animals with mange will end up dying. If the animal was healthy to begin with and had a good immune system, it would be able to fight it off. It’s the sickly, injured, too old or too young, the ones that can’t fight it off, that get more sick and end up dying.

As a former employee and part of that union myself, I’m really curious. As I was leaving, they were unionizing everyone in the customer service department. I was told that was kind of the last of the last, that were left. But either way, I can amend to say, the majority of the employees there are union, if that makes you feel any better.

Literally, every employee there, down to the customer service reps, are in a union. It wouldn’t be as simple as laying them off.

Anyone who doesn’t pay their bill would eventually be sent to collections and or disconnected, if they didn’t meet the criteria to be safe from a shut off. The costs for unpaid bills just get passed onto residents. So, it’s really futile to just refuse to pay a bill without the backing of some legislators on board to change things, legally.

I mean, they allow you to fill out the form and e-mail it to them. Then, they send you a link for payment. It doesn’t mention about submitting additional documents. If you’re worried you won’t have something. Then, I’d go that route. The link I provided, you just change the tab towards the bottom from in-person to e-mail, for that info.

It’s reality. As you’ve pointed out, the person in the car will survive. The pedestrian will be injured or killed. If the pedestrian is in a crosswalk, controlled or otherwise, at an intersection, crossing at an area controlled by an officer/crossing guard etc. and is following all the protocol and a car comes through and hits them. That’s 100% on the driver. The pedestrian did everything right.

If someone is crossing illegally, and at night nonetheless, that risk is 100% on the pedestrian. They are deciding to chance running/walking across a street. Yes, a driver should stop. Yes, a driver should be aware of their surroundings. The fact that you dismiss a pedestrian’s responsibility to also be aware of their surroundings, to know where and when to cross, is disturbing.

You advocate to teach people to just walk into a road and if they get killed, that’s the driver’s fault? There’s no pedestrian safety or responsibility? I wonder where: “look both ways before you cross.” came from. Surely, we don’t need to do that because a car will stop.

They literally said one of the more recent victims, was wearing dark clothing and not crossing in a crosswalk and the driver remained on scene.

There is some responsibility on a pedestrian to cross safely. A pedestrian can see a car. A car can’t always see a pedestrian until it’s too late, in some cases.

To me, it doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that we’ve had an increase after they updated the law. I think a lot of people may interpret it as, they can legally cross anywhere, on any street. That’s not how it’s written.

Reply to comment by neilson43 in Switching from Ever-source … by swervb

As a former Eversource employee that dealt with customer accounts, it’s not “dead wrong”. If it became the default, the reps would know about it. That block would be right next to your name on the account. The rep wouldn’t miss it. It would also be communicated to customer service as it would undoubtedly become a major call driver.

There are blocks on supplier switches for certain accounts like hardship accounts, past due balances etc. That’s been in place long before this year and rate increase. What you’re referring to is Eversource changing that enrollment policy. Normally, you would have to apply. Instead, Eversource is trying to automatically enroll at risk accounts using “marketing data .” They found that they enrolled some customers erroneously. Those customers would blocked from the switch.

It is not the default to have a block from switching suppliers on your account. It is not advantageous for Eversource to block a supplier switch. They don’t profit off of your supply portion of the bill. They don’t care if you pick another supplier.

It’s been a feature for quite a while to prevent a supplier from switching you out of standard service without your consent. You can just log onto your account and take it off. It’s not the default; you have to put it there or request it’s done on your behalf. Many people complain that they get calls/visits from suppliers and wind up signed up without their consent.

Eversource doesn’t keep the money on the supply side. They purchase electricity on your behalf for whatever the market rate is. They lock the price in for 6 months and whatever you use is x that rate. You pay your bill and Eversource turns around and gives that money to whatever company produced that energy.

If you change your supplier, Eversource still collects the money, but it just passes through them and goes to the company who actually produced that energy.

It won’t affect Eversource if everyone stopped using them as a supplier since they do not produce energy. You shouldn’t just lock in a price for 3 years and not check it again. Every 6 months, the rate changes. So, Eversource could be cheaper in June again. But, you run the risk that in January 2024, it will go up higher, and you’ve now gotten out of a better, overall long-term price, with an alternative supplier.

Yes. You can request an absentee ballot and drop it off or mail it in, ahead of Election Day. Hopefully, they permanently expand this option. This year they’re still allowing people to use it due to the presence of Covid. I can’t imagine that will continue much longer.

Thanks for posting. Didn’t realize this was coming out. Just used it to get mine, with no problems.

The signature part, if you consent to use your signature from the DMV, it imports it and populates it for you. I didn’t have to actually sign anything. Super easy. Took like 30 seconds.
